Winterlude!

Now that Winterlude is over, mama is finally getting around to telling you all about it!

Winterlude is Ottawa's annual winter festival that goes on for 3 weeks every February. This year we didn't get to experience too much of it, but we did go skating on the Rideau Canal, the worlds largest outdoor skating rink!

We went a couple of weekends ago when it was bright and sunny and windy!

I tried out my new bright pink BOB Skates but they kept falling off.

Mama thinks it's because we hadn't adjusted them to fit my boots properly, and she is hopeful we can try them again! I kept slipping and falling though. Who knew skating was so difficult.

I had really wanted to try skating just like two of my friends from daycare, but after falling a few times and having daddy adjust my skates, I finally decided to just walk.

I had loads of fun chasing daddy and trying to keep up with mama who was pushing the stroller since I didn't want to ride in it! She admits skating was a lot easier with something to lean on!

We had started at a place called Dows Lake, and skated to where they have all these buildings, one that sells something called Beavertails.

We didn't end up trying one this year because there were soooo many people and I was getting restless. I don't like waiting for a long time, especially in the cold, and on the slippery ice where I just want to run and play!

The far left of the picture is the end of the line to try a Beavertail! Mama says maybe later this year or next year I can try one!!I had a great time skating on the Canal though, and hope to try again either this year, but for sure next year when I'm bigger!

Bundt Pan

How do YOU use a bundt pan?

First you turn it inside out...

You can put your whole arm up into the tube to make sure you got it...

It fits nicely on my high chair...
but best of all...

Makes a GREAT Hat!!!

Silence

Sorry for all the blog silence lately.

I have NOT been silent.
I very rarely am.

I love to talk and sing and read stories.
I love telling mommy and daddy what to do.
I love role playing.
I love surprising everyone with new words and sentences.
I love being silly.

I am getting better at counting: 1,2,3,5,6,8,9,10
I am getting better at my ABC's: a, b, c, e, q, r, s, p, u, t, y, z
I am getting better at ring around the rosy: pock-et round, husha, fall down!!
I am getting better at dressing myself: I pulled a shirt over my head and put my arms through so it looked like a tube top (mommy apologizes for the lack of that picture!)

I am learning how to sign Twinkle Twinkle little star
I am learning how to read stories to my teddy bear, mommy and daddy
I am learning my manners: Please, Thank you mommy/daddy, Welcome mommy/daddy

I can put 4-5 word together to form incomplete sentences.
This morning was "Daddy, toast ready now?"

Mommy says she will try to start writing them down so we can share the funnier ones with you.

Have a great long weekend!
Hopefully we'll have lots to share next week!

Mildly Difficult

This morning I decided to be mildly difficult.
Not unlike other mornings.
Don't get me wrong, I'm normally a pretty easy going kid, but today I was in a mood.

When mom and dad tried to get me ready to go, I didn't really feel like it.
I didn't want anyone to touch "my teddy bear"
I didn't want to put my coat on.
I wanted Teddy to wear my coat.

It seems the parentals and I compromised.
Teddy and I both wore my coat and we went happily to daycare.

Say Cheese:

Note from Mommy:
We were strapped in tight. We only had to drive around the corner. We were both safe!

Under the Weather

We've all been a tad bit sick over here. I think I brought something home from daycare and then since mommy and daddy are always teaching me to share, I shared it with them too.

Despite the fact that one of my new favourite books is Germs are not for Sharing.

I gave them my cold anyways.

Despite my runny nose and cough that is getting better, I can still have fun in my room

And look oh so innocent doing so!

I made mommy forget about it though with a quick game of Peekaboo!

And of course she forgave me...
And helped me clean up!
